The noisy hub is removed to be internally inspected:     While the Caterpillar dumper 793D overhaul progresses, we'll go back on site tomorrow to solve some electrical supply "problems". Regards. Guy

Guy that hub is fantastic, I can only imagine the amount of time involved with the detail.

The site experienced in the past several power outages, due to defects on the existing cables running to electric shovels. To minimize downtime, the mine management decided to order new cables and to take the opportunity of a synchronized site shut-down to replace the defective ones: the operation is planned for tomorrow. Loading of new cables drums at the storage area for dispatch on site:   An unused wheel loader has been modified and starts a new working life as cable-layer:  To be continued. Guy

While new cables drums are dispatched around the site, existing power cables are taken down from their road crossing poles:    To be continued. Guy

The following morning, power is cut on the whole site and existing cables immediately disconnected on both ends. New cables - which have been run alongside during the night - are connected between shovels and local junction boxes while the "cable-layer" recovers old sections:    To be continued. Guy

New cables are laid in a similar way (preparation time was too short to optimize downtime and get a simple change-over between power cables):     It now just a matter of connecting power supplies to local junction boxes and to get all testing completed: then shovels can start digging again and operations continue. While electric shovels are restarted and mine activity is brought back to normal, the cable-layer is running new power cables to remote secondary locations:  Some close views of the cable-layer locally-made attachment, during its tests before the change-over operation:    Regards. Guy

The diorama is incredible. Love what you have done with the Cat 988 but every time I see the Peterbilt dragging the radiator guard on the ground I want to scream and fix it.

Claus, Thanks for the comment: I don't think that anybody here has noted that inverted grille protection on the Peterbilt. The oversize load sign was put back in place after weathering, without realizing that there was a problem. What's happening here this morning?  Apparently, a brand new equipment has just been delivered to LorraMine:   To be continued. Guy

No picture, sorry. "Our photographer" doesn't work full time in LorraMine and he was busy at that time with the new workshop delivery and with its dump body handling equipment delivery/installation and test. He missed all operations associated with the Liebherr 9800 delivery, but I'm sure that we'll get in the future some other opportunities with other mining "giants" being delivered.

Guy you must have greased the palms of some very important people to get permits that quick. Around here it takes a year just to have them get back to you saying that they received them.
