Now we are talking heavy haulage! Maybe enough axles for a cat D11? [...] Wildpig1234, Nice US heavy haulage set! Guy thanks for the earlier inspiration...lol... I am trying to order a nooteboom low trailer with 10 axles. but i guess in practice, you can get unlimited axles when you go to trailers designs based on SPMT

Limitation seems to be axle suspension travel on cambered roads, resulting in localized lines overload (that's probably why UK companies favor girders trailers for road heavy haulage): On flat surfaces like shipyards, there is no theoretical limitation (with loads heavier than 5000 tonnes being moved), neither for conventional modular trailers (now very seldom used - see picture below), nor for SPMTs (the norm, today): Top and center pictures from the German "Hansebube Forum", bottom picture "probably" B. Tuck. Regards. Guy

Are these models you post in 1/50 or another scale? I just got this behemoth of a lowboy trailer. Was half mortified when i received the box in the mail....lol.... The width is slightly more than twice that of the regular trailer. The thickness of the deck is nearly a person's height!

I agree with you, the mining Towhaul lowboy is huge, when compared to road-going units. Here is a link to the various models made: https://towhaul.com/en/lowboy The larger 1-axle unit (RGS450) is able to carry mining units up to 450 Tons (the Terex 6040 shovel being the heaviest with 449 Tons). Towhaul are offering 2-axle mining lowboys as well, capable of moving inside mining premises equipment like the Hitachi EX 8000-6 shovel of 910 Tons. I hope this helps. Guy

So you will have to turn to the Code 3 market to get one of their 2-axle units, or more probably build it yourself, sorry! Regards. Guy

The width is slightly more than twice that of the regular trailer. The thickness of the deck is nearly a person's height! The late Rainer Markgraf, Had a specail Towhaul low boy produced for his collection, It WAS a monster, A special three axle low boy with its own engine haulled by a three axle Cat 797, Apparently Towhaul did have this machine on their drawing board but none ever made carrying capacity was 1500 tons or 3 million pounds, I'll just post this link as not wanting to share an actual photo from his collection, 1500 ton TowhaulRegards Joe.
