2 emblematic vehicles of the British urban transport industry, reproduced by Corgi in a 1/50 scale: - On the left: double-decker 4x2/2 Daimler CW6A bus with a Duple H27/28R carbody, - On the right: double-decker 4x2/2 AEC Routemaster RM bus fitted with a Park Royal Vehicles H28/36R body. To be continued. Guy

The Daimler CW6A double-decker, designed before WW2, was operating in the Outer London area - hence its Green Line livery - from summer 1945 to January 1954. It was then replaced by the AEC Routemaster: The AEC Routemaster bus, in its 1980s red livery, operated in Central London between November 1963 and 1985: Regards. Guy

Vehicles recovery in Germany in the 80s/90s. The combination is being progressed; the Tekno Danmark trailer (a 1/43 model produced during the 60s), was bought on e... in a very poor status and narrowed, based on a vintage Falk & Zonen equipment picture (see below): Mercedes-Benz 1628 truck, fitted with an unknown brand body equipped with a towing winch and a lifting beam (Conrad model) is loaded with a Mercedes-Benz 608D 4x2/2 van (Cursor model). The truck is towing a car recovery trailer of unknown brand fitted with a hand winch (Tekno model being modified), carrying a Mercedes-Benz L 608D 4x2/2 dropside body van (Cursor model) I'm looking for any technical details on the real recovery trailer unit (fabricator, capacity, dimensions, etc): Regards. Guy

Jean-François built a new tipping semi-trailer, presented here some times ago. He decided that - as on the real tipping unit - his model would be equipped with a tilting tailgate made of ... 2 opening rear doors! A few pictures of the work in progress: To be continued. Guy

Guy spectacular build by Jean-Francois as usual, that looks like it was very hard to build that trailer with the two separate opening dump doors. Thanks Steve

Guy, thanks again for the pictures. Jean- Francois fabrication is to be admired. That tale gate is something else! Mike

Steve and Campmb, Many thanks for your positive comments, which I'll pass onto Jean-Francois. Early 90s, the British company Matchbox buys the Dinky Toys brand and gets models made in China under the Matchbox-Dinky brand. In this model range, very few are in a 1/50 scale, one of these being that Mercedes-Benz O 3500 "Konferenz" 4x2/2 vintage tourism coach in Reisebüro Ruoff livery: Regards. Guy

Still in the Matchbox range (but in the Models of Yesteryear Series) a rather unusual vintage coach: Postal bus Scania-Vabis 3241 4x2/2, fitted with skis on the front axle and equipped with a tracked rear driven axle. The original unit, used in Sweden during winter times in the 1920s: Regards. Guy

Guy is that Quinella delivering the mail in Sweden, I believe that is one of the jobs he had in his 40s. He then went from there to the Freightliner cab over division where he typed letters for all the important people that is why he corrects everyone’s grammar on the forum. That mail delivery half track is very nice in model form and in real life, you have some of the most unique and interesting models. That MB tourism coach looks the one from the movie “Where Eagles Dare” when they crashed thru the barn to get to the airport. Steve

A few iconic trucks of French fire brigades in a 1/50 scale. They were sold - at a very competitive price - by Del Prado in newsstands on a weekly basis, as part of a series of worldwide fire engines in various scales, with each an associated booklet. I got these later for a few Euros piece, without their booklets. From left to right: a FIN Laffly (1946), an ASR Laffly (1950), a CCI Berliet (1955), a CCI Citroën/Guinard (1974), a FPTL Berliet/Camiva (1974), a PSL Citroën/Guinard (1976) and a VPI Ford (1988): Regards. Late 1980s, site move of a heavy load by Sarens in a British shipyard: DAF NTT 3300 DKS 6x6/2 tractor with winch, ballast box and hydraulic crane (modified IMC model) and 2 Goldhofer THP-L6 6-line modular trailers rigged in a 4-file wide arrangement (Conrad model) moving a demobilized 118 tonnes Vickers-Armstrong ship steam boiler to be scraped (Corgi load). To be continued. Guy

In the U.K.,the style of tipper doors that Jean-Francois has reproduced, are called 'barn doors'.They are standard fitting for any high volume tipper.I can think of at least three, model tippers, that I have, that have the tailgate moulded as one piece. So the 'doors' are for show,as the tailgate functions as usual. Those doors are very handy for larger volume stuff that may be too big to go through the gap.I really like Jean-Francois,engineering.They look, and function perfectly!

Guy that is very interesting that you could buy diecast at a newsstand, that’s a new one on me. I hope Chuck is following this post because we could use a newsstand like that here in Rhode Island. You probably won’t hear from Quinella today either because he is probably on a corner in NC setting up a newsstand as we speak so he can sell his cab overs because as everyone knows he is retiring. Very nice set up with your hauling of the abandoned ship boiler also. Thanks Steve

Steve, I think that it started in UK and you have these days in Europe editors like Altaya, Atlas, Del Prado or Hachette selling every week in newsstands booklets and associated models on any type of series: vintage semi-trailers, old Berliet trucks, long gone vans, model cars, Dinky Toys, etc. Most of models are in a 1/43 scale and often produced by Ixo. Sometimes, these series gather various scales (that was the case for the fire engines shown above) or go for smaller scales (there is one plant equipment series which I think is exclusively in a 1/72 scale). A few links to these productions: http://genieminiature.com/Altaya%20%20Voitures.htmhttp://genieminiature.com/Altaya%20Motos.htmhttp://genieminiature.com/Atlas%20Voitures%20Dinky%20Toys.htmhttp://genieminiature.com/Atlas%20Voitures.htmhttp://genieminiature.com/Del%20Prado%20Auto-Collector.htmhttp://genieminiature.com/Del%20Prado%20Camions%20de%20Pompiers.htmhttp://genieminiature.com/Hachette%20Voitures.htm... I hope it helps. Guy

Guy thanks for that information and the links, I have never heard of models being sold at newsstands. Steve
